Blaine meets George Bush Sr.!
Blaine Logan, 90, a resident of Carolina House of Forest City, had a wish to meet George Bush Sr.!
Blaine was president of the Base Air Depot II Wharton England Division of the WWII Association. The association has met in England for their annual reunion many times. For the 50th Anniversary George Bush Sr. was supposed to speak, along with Blaine, but couldn't and wrote a letter to him instead.
To this day he has the framed letter on display for all to see.
Logan, his son Beattie, LEC Sharon Brigman, and Nurse Allison Bridges all went to Houston to meet with the President. On the plane ride there Blaine was applauded by the passengers and the pilots asked to have their pictures taken with him. They also met NASA's Gene Cernan a US Navy veteran and the last man to walk on the moon in 1972 for the Apollo 17 program.
President Bush gave Blaine some cufflinks and a tour of the offices. Alyse French donated her time to take photographs.
