Marie's Museum Wish
Marie Bostick, resident of Freedom Village Holland, recently had her wish granted to return to the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston through Brookdale Senior Living and Jeremy Bloom’s Wish of a Lifetime.
Bostick loved visiting the Museum of Fine Arts during her days living with her daughter in Cape Cod. Since moving to Michigan, she was never able to return to Cape Cod or the museum. Even though she is an avid weaver and dabbles in watercolors, Bostick still missed the art, culture and history at the Museum of Fine Arts.
Recently, Bostick read about the restoration work in progress at the museum. Inspiring her wish, she dreamed of seeing the museum updates. She also hoped to see the textile preservation and the works of her favorite artist, John Singer Sargeant.
On Oct. 11, Bostick traveled to Boston with Marcia Schrotenboer to visit the Museum of Fine Arts. During their four-day trip, the pair stayed on a houseboat provided by Sleep Afloat. On Oct. 12, the conservation department of the Museum of Fine Arts gave Bostick and Schrotenboer a private tour. To complement her wish, Bostick also attended a performance by the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
