JC, 88, a Resident of Sterling House Medical Center in San Antonio, is a lifelong, diehard NASCAR fan. JC wears his #24 hat or his knit cap and jacket almost every day and is wearing pretty thin because of it.
JC has followed NASCAR since its beginnings; even through the years of losing his eyesight. Now legally blind JC still listens to all the races, planning his weekend activities around the races. At the start of each season he brings the Lifestyles Director, the transportation driver and the maintenance supervisor a schedule for the year. Each person has their favorite driver and adds a little friendly competition to the season.
JC grew up around grew up in Indiana and went to many Indy 500 races as a kid; eventually volunteering there as an adult for many years. He was also a pilot in the United States Air Force for 27 years serving in Vietnam before retiring.
The Jeff Gordon Children's Foundation donated a Race Package and Ebbie Kelly, the LEC at Patriot Heights planned a NASCAR party for JC and his family. On Friday, December 2nd Patriot Heights held the NASCAR party to celebrate the end of the racing season!
